Cowboys beat Saints. Saints Win Super Bowl 44!!!

The Dallas Cowboys 2009/2010 season did not end as we had all hoped.  It was not their year.  TheCowboysCorner.comneeded a short sabbatical after the Cowboys season ending blowout in Minnesota.

Well I'm back now and ready to go.  As I look back on the season it was a heck of a ride.  The Cowboys at times seemed to under-perform and then just when you think they were out of it they turned it on.  Finished the regular season strong and won their first playoff game in over a decade.  Not what we all wanted but not bad.  Only one team wins the Super Bowl each year.

The Cowboys can now look forward to the off-season and the 2010 season.  The Pro Bowl was finished last week so we don't have to worry about that this week.

If the Cowboys are going to take anything into the off-season it should be these two things:

1.  Any player even an un-drafted 4th year back up player can turn it on and make a huge difference to the team.  WR Miles Austin may have save the Cowboys season this year which completely came out of nowhere.  Where would the Cowboys have been if Roy Williams had done the same?

2. The Cowboys were the first team this season to beat the New Orleans Saints.  They did it in New Orleans and it was no fluke.  This is something every Cowboys player needs to think about this off season.  What if?

Priceless NFL Picks had a great year picking football winners this year.   Thanks to all my readers for a great 2009/2010 season.  it was nice to know that I did as well if not better in my picks then the so-called experts on ESPN.

As a Cowboys fans I don't really care who wins the Super Bowl.  I have been trying to find reasons all week as to who to vote for.  Honestly, I can't think of one.  I used to live in Louisiana during the time of the 'aints'.  They were not very good back them.  I would like to vote for them but I will get a little nuts every time they announcers mention the City of New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina.  Nawlins was a below sea level dump before that happened and I know that it was a terrible event but I am tired of hearing about it during football games.

Live near the water and eventually you are going to get wet.

Do you think the announcers will mention the struggles of the Indiana farmers whose families fled the Great Potato Famine in the 1800s.  Get over it already.

Florida has 2 or three bad hurricanes a year and you don't hear them crying about it.  Everyone in the U.S. knew a category 5 hurricane was coming.  Most people could have gotten out if they had not been stupid.

The people in Haiti had no chance to prepare or respond.  The people in New Orleans did.

OK, now lets talk football.

The Cowboys beat the Saints so if they win the Cowboys can build on that for next year.  The Colts should be undefeated going into this game but are not.  No one will care if they win the Super Bowl.  the problem with the Colts is they have the worst uniforms and are them most boring good team on the NFL.

That said I don't know how you go against Peyton Manning.  He just seems to have that it factor.

Either way I don't care.  Lets start the 2010 season so the Cowboys can play in the Super Bowl at home next year.

Arlington may have the 2011 Super Bowl venue, but other North Texas cities are getting a shot at the big game action too.

The North Texas Super Bowl Committee and the NFL announced today more than a dozen Metroplex venues, mostly in Fort Worth and Dallas, that will be hosting Super Bowl related events.

At a press conference featuring Dallas Cowboys stars like Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman and Tony Dorsett, the committee unveiled the venues like it was an awards show.

The Dallas Cowboys are a 9-1 Las Vegas favorite to win this years Super Bowl.  There are only 4 teams ahead of them and those 4 teams have won the last 6 Super Bowls.

First thing is that the Cowboys have an experienced head coach.  He has been around a while now and can do a good job.  He just has to show it.  After he took over the defense in mid-season they played much better.  Now he needs to work the same magic on the offense and special teams.  Other teams were predicting the defense's plays.  That has to change.  Tom Landry was the Cowboys coach 11 years before he won his first Super Bowl.

The Cowboys now have a veteran quarterback who can make plays.  His passing stats will have to get better.  His passing percentage has gotten worse every year.  He will need to correct that.  He will also need to protect the ball better.  If he does that watch out!  Roger Staubach was a 10th round draft pick in the 1964 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, but due to his military commitment, did not begin playing until 1969 as a 27 year old rookie.  In 1971, Craig Morton began the season as the starter, but after a loss to the New Orleans Saints, Staubach assumed the role.  Staubach assumed the full-time quarterbacking duties in a week eight victory over the St. Louis Cardinals and led the Cowboys to ten consecutive victories, including their first Super Bowl victory, 24–3 over the Miami Dolphins. He was named MVP of Super Bowl VI on January 16, 1972.  Romo is 28.  Romo should also have a better running game this year.  This should reduce the total number of passes (and interceptions) and open up the play action pass.

The Cowboys will have a running game.  There is no question about that this year.  The Cowboy trio of Barber, Jones and Choice should just kill teams this year.  If the big offensive line can get any push these guys have proven to get it done.  I can only think that Choice and Jones will be even better receiving the Ball this year.  Look out for Jones if he is healthy.

The Cowboys have THE best TE in football.  Witten is a game changer.  Bennett will only be better in his second season.

The Cowboys have wide receivers.  Roy Williams can be a number one receiver.   A solid running game and good number two and three receivers in Crayton and Austin/Hurd.

The Cowboys have enough offense to win a Super Bowl.

The Cowboys have defense.  DEFENSE WINS SUPER BOWLS!  Ware will be back and good as ever.  Ellis and Ratliff should be better and the new additions to the team should keep the at the top of the NFL.  The defensive back field is a question but if Newman can keep healthy and Scandrick can improve they may be good enough.

The Cowboys could have Special Teams.  Their punter and FG kicker are good enough.  Paulescu and  Folk can win games.  I like to see Felix Jones return kicks but they may not happen.  If the Cowboys can inprove to just middle of the pack in kick returns that may be enough.  The problem area last year was coverage.  This season with a new Special Teams coach they should improve.  if they just don't let up the big play they will be o.k.

Las Vegas says the Cowboys are a 9-1 bet. I'd take that bet.

Rodger Staubach say Dallas Super Bowl XLV coming fast!!!!

The buildup to Super Bowl XLV is just around the corner.

More than 60 events will be hosted in the year preceding the Super Bowl at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, beginning with a concert at Bass Hall in March 2010.

"We are planning an entire year of buildup, a crescendo to February 2011," said Bill Lively, chief executive of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, at a news media luncheon Tuesday in the Fort Worth Club. After the Bass Hall concert, a concert will be held at the Dallas Performing Arts Center and then at the new stadium.

Lively said that the venues and some performers of international caliber have been booked for the concerts, but he would not reveal who they are.

"I wish I could get Faith Hill for all three concerts," committee Chairman Roger Staubach, a country-music fan, joked with reporters.

Staubach said the host committee wants to get most of the fundraising and logistical planning for the Super Bowl completed well in advance so it can spend 2010 holding a series of concerts and community events.

So far, the committee has secured nine $1 million sponsors, and Staubach said he expects the committee will meet its goal to have 15 of these sponsors by June. He added that he has scheduled five meetings in the next few weeks where he hopes to bring a few more corporations and individuals on board as donors.

Steelers 'Shock the World' Almost Lose Super Bowl!

Congratulations to the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.  Won for the thumb!!!

It was a very entertaining game with lots of great plays.  The Arizona Cardinals showed the world alot.

Hats off to them.

It will be better next year when the Cowboys win their 6th!

Well it's that time.  Time to make the big pick. 

On paper the Steelers at 12-4 have to be the favorite.  They have the number 1 defense and their offense can get it done.  It will not be a blow out and do not expect the Cards to trail the whole game.  This will be decided by a late big play on DEFENSE not offense.

Dallas Cowboys Fans: It's Championship Sunday and I am Jacked Up!

It's the big day.  Free tickets to the Super Bowl for two teams and two tickets to also-ran for two teams.  Looks like snow in Pittsburgh and Desert in Arizona.

Even though our team isn't playing today you still have to love the excitement that these game will have hopefully both games will go into overtime so that we all get our money's worth.

DEFENSE WINS SUPER BOWLS!

I'll say it again DEFENSE WINS SUPER BOWLS.  The Cowboys Defense kept the game close for the offense.  A special shout out to LB Bradie James for leading the team with 10 tackles and a returning CB Terence Newman who coming off an injury had the second most tackles with 7 and a timely interception.

DE Jay Ratliff had two big sacks that fired up the team and BEWARE D. Ware had a nice sack and 5 solo tackles.  Even Tank Johnson had a nice stop for a Redskins loss.
